Energy in Fermo - Together to fight energy poverty

In a volatile world, we are an important player within a complex national system that moves to ensure energy security in Italy. This in turn provides socioeconomic security for our communities.

 

We have always put ourselves at the heart of the communities that host and staff our operations. It is through this symbiotic relationship that all parties can succeed on their respective and shared journeys. We are aware that there are some in our communities that need additional support – and Energean is in the position to provide knowledgeable, sustainable and intelligent support that goes beyond simple charity donations.

 

This is why we are so proud to announce our involvement in a unique program: 'Energy in Fermo. Together to fight energy poverty'.

The phenomenon of energy poverty has grown throughout Italy, now affecting as many as 8.5% of Italian families (source: OIPE - Italian Observatory on Energy Poverty). Our joint project can be a partial and local a solution to a major challenge.

The project, focused on the Marche region adjacent to our Italian production operations, will look to combat the scourge of energy poverty by supporting approximately a hundred families in the municipality of Fermo in two specific ways.

1 - Direct support for the payment of utilities

2 – A bespoke and focused education programme that will enable beneficiaries to reduce energy consumption, through the direct engagement of local operators (volunteer and public employees) that already work with local families and people.

The initiative was launched this October at the Mayor's Cabinet of Palazzo dei Priori in Fermo with a community presentation that involved not only Energean, but all the partners in the new programme: the City's Mayor, the Municipality's Councillor for Social Services, the Director of CARITAS Diocesana di Fermo and the Head of the Energy Bank Foundation.

The project is a multi-stakeholder partnership:

  • Banco Dell’energia https://www.bancodellenergia.it/ is actively engaged in tackling energy poverty at national level with the aim of curbing the phenomenon, but also preventing individuals from falling into situations of economic and social vulnerability. BdE will coordinate and promote training activities for local operators, as well as engage at the national level with higher-level interlocutors for the Italian system.
  • Caritas https://www.caritas.org/where-caritas-work/europe/italy/, leveraging their strong knowledge of the social fabric of Fermo, Caritas will significantly enhance the effectiveness of family support. Through direct contact with the final beneficiaries, Caritas volunteers will identify the households to be supported, collect the needs through their Listening Centre and provide for the material payment of bills.
  • The Municipality of Fermo plays an active and integral role in the project contributing space, time and skills: in addition to the direct involvement of the mayor and councilors in promoting the project, and providing event spaces. Select employees - following the training provided - will bring energy skills to their respective offices, which work closely with the public and will cooperate with Caritas in the selection of households to be supported.
  • Energean is at the heart of the project: extending its influence beyond financial contributions. We have successfully built a support network by attentively listening to the community. This approach allowed us to unite various stakeholders, initiating the network based on a clear objective need and subsequently directing everyone’s efforts and energy toward a common purpose.

Meetings between the beneficiaries and the Domestic Energy Tutors (TEDs) will be arranged soon, once local operators and volunteers have completed their ongoing training sessions.

Amongst the Municipality and Caritas team, suitable individuals have been identified to be trained as TEDs. They will acquire skills that can be used not just today, but also after the project’s first stage, ensuring a long-lasting value for the Municipality of Fermo. The objective will be to provide citizens with the tools to decrease energy consumption by adopting more sophisticated behaviour in the daily use of household appliances.

We are particularly happy to also offer a selected number of Energean employees in Italy the possibility to become a TED, meaning Energean can enhance its support of the community.

The 'Energy in Fermo' project aims to provide concrete support, involving not only the Energy Bank, but also non-profit organisations, public administration and private companies, in a multi-partnership perspective (goal 17 of Agenda 2030) that allows for a tangible and lasting contribution to communities. It is very much in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 1 (No Poverty), 7 (Clean and Affordable Energy) & 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and we look forward to seeing the positive results of the project in the future.

Energean è un'azienda energetica impegnata a sostenere il progresso socio-economico: operiamo in modo responsabile, con le migliori pratiche di produzione locale di petrolio e gas. In un mondo volatile, siamo un attore importante all'interno di un complesso sistema nazionale che si muove per garantire la sicurezza energetica in Italia. Questa, a sua volta, garantisce un certo livello di sicurezza al tessuto economico locale.

 

Da sempre ci poniamo al centro delle comunità dove operiamo: è attraverso questo rapporto simbiotico che tutte le parti possono avere successo nei loro rispettivi e condivisi percorsi.

Siamo consapevoli del fatto che nelle nostre comunità ci sono persone che hanno più necessità di altre e questa è la sfida di Energean: intervenire in modo consapevole, sostenibile e intelligente, andando oltre il mero assistenzialismo o la beneficenza.

 

Ecco perché siamo orgogliosi di annunciare il nostro coinvolgimento in un programma unico: 'Energia a Fermo. Insieme per combattere la povertà energetica".

Il fenomeno della povertà energetica è cresciuto in tutta Italia, arrivando a interessare ben l'8,5% delle famiglie italiane (fonte: OIPE - Osservatorio Italiano sulla Povertà Energetica). Il nostro progetto può essere una soluzione parziale e locale a una sfida importante.

L’iniziativa si svolge nelle Marche (più precisamente nel comune di Fermo, là dove sono alcune delle nostre attività produttive, e mira a combattere la piaga della povertà energetica sostenendo circa cento famiglie del comune di Fermo in due modi specifici:

1 - Sostegno diretto per il pagamento delle utenze

2 - Un programma educativo personalizzato e mirato che consentirà ai beneficiari di ridurre i consumi energetici, attraverso l'impegno diretto di operatori locali (volontari e dipendenti pubblici) che già lavorano con le famiglie e le persone del luogo.

L'iniziativa è stata lanciata questo inizio di ottobre presso il Gabinetto del Sindaco di Palazzo dei Priori a Fermo con una conferenza stampa aperta che ha coinvolto non solo Energean, ma tutti i partner del progetto: il Sindaco della città, l'Assessore ai Servizi Sociali del Comune, il Direttore della CARITAS Diocesana di Fermo e il Responsabile della Fondazione Banco dell'Energia.

Il progetto è un partenariato multi-stakeholder:

  • Banco dell'energia https://www.bancodellenergia.it/ è attivamente impegnato nella lotta alla povertà energetica a livello nazionale con l'obiettivo di arginare il fenomeno, ma anche di evitare che gli individui cadano in situazioni di vulnerabilità economica e sociale. BdE coordinerà e promuoverà attività di formazione per gli operatori locali, oltre a confrontarsi a livello nazionale con interlocutori di livello superiore per il sistema Italia.
  • Caritas https://www.caritas.it/, facendo leva sulla forte conoscenza del tessuto sociale fermano, la Caritas potenzierà in modo significativo l'efficacia del sostegno alle famiglie. Attraverso il contatto diretto con i beneficiari finali, i volontari Caritas individueranno i nuclei familiari da sostenere, raccoglieranno i bisogni attraverso il loro Centro di Ascolto e provvederanno al pagamento materiale delle bollette.
  • Il Comune di Fermo svolge un ruolo attivo e integrante nel progetto contribuendo con spazi, tempo e competenze: oltre al coinvolgimento diretto del Sindaco e degli assessori nella promozione del progetto e nella messa a disposizione di spazi per eventi. Alcuni dipendenti selezionati - seguendo la formazione prevista - porteranno le competenze energetiche nei rispettivi uffici, che lavorano a stretto contatto con il pubblico e collaboreranno con Caritas nelle selezione dei nuclei famigliari da supportare.
  • Energean è il cuore del progetto, estendendo la sua influenza al di là dei contributi finanziari. Abbiamo costruito con successo una rete di sostegno ascoltando attentamente la comunità. Questo approccio ci ha permesso di unire i vari soggetti interessati, avviando la rete sulla base di una chiara esigenza oggettiva e indirizzando successivamente gli sforzi e le energie di tutti verso uno scopo comune.

Gli incontri tra i beneficiari e i Tutor dell'Energia Domestica (TED) saranno organizzati a breve, quando gli operatori e i volontari locali avranno completato le sessioni di formazione in corso.

Tra il Comune e l'équipe Caritas sono state individuate le persone adatte a essere formate come TED. Queste persone acquisiranno competenze che potranno essere utilizzate non solo oggi, ma anche dopo la prima fase del progetto, garantendo un valore duraturo per il Comune di Fermo. L'obiettivo sarà quello di fornire ai cittadini gli strumenti per ridurre i consumi energetici adottando comportamenti più sofisticati nell'uso quotidiano degli elettrodomestici.

Siamo particolarmente felici di offrire anche a un numero selezionato di dipendenti Energean in Italia la possibilità di diventare un TED, il che significa che Energean può rafforzare il suo sostegno alla comunità.

Il progetto "Energia a Fermo" mira a fornire un sostegno concreto, coinvolgendo non solo il Banco dell'Energia, ma anche organizzazioni no-profit, pubblica amministrazione e aziende private, in un'ottica di multipartnership (obiettivo 17 dell'Agenda 2030) che permette di dare un contributo tangibile e duraturo alle comunità. Il progetto è in linea con gli Obiettivi di Sviluppo Sostenibile delle Nazioni Unite 1 (No povertà), 7 (Energia pulita e accessibile) e 11 (Città e comunità sostenibili) e non vediamo l'ora di vedere i risultati positivi del progetto in futuro.
