Energean at EmpowerMed Women

On International Women’s Day, we invite everyone in Energean and beyond to engage with the East Mediterranean Gas Forum’s “EmpowerMed Women” campaign. 


IWD is a single day in the year, where we celebrate the contribution of our female colleagues. We do not want to stop there, but demonstrate our commitment through the year and offer our colleagues the opportunity to engage around this important issue. This is why we commend the EMGF’s EmpowerMed Women campaign to all colleagues.

This is why CEO Mathios Rigas joined regional policy and energy leaders, including Greek Deputy Minister of Environment & Energy Alexandra Sdoukou – to champion the cause and programme and share Energeran’s commitment and experience of how to provide a working environment where everyone can bring their full selves to work.

EmpowerMed Women was based on the recognition that women are underrepresented in the regional energy value chain. EmpowerMed Women will be built around core activities aimed at empowering women and enhancing their role in the energy industry:

  1. Networking Opportunities: The network will organize events, workshops, and forums to connect women professionals across the energy sector.
  2. Mentorship Programs: A mentorship initiative will pair seasoned professionals with emerging talent, offering guidance on career advancement and leadership development.
  3. Capacity Building: Tailored training programs will focus on skills development, leadership, and career advancement, providing women with the tools and confidence they need to excel in the energy industry.
  4. Advocacy: The network will advocate for policies that support gender diversity and ensure women’s voices are included in decisions that shape the future of energy.
  5. Research and Awareness: EmpowerMed Women will conduct research on the challenges and opportunities for women in the energy sector

The Empower Med Women network is not just for women. It is designed to be an inclusive space open to anyone in the energy sector EMGF. Whatever your rank or function, EmpowerMed Women offers a platform to connect, grow, and drive meaningful change in the industry.
